On July 3, 1999, Sandman collapsed on the stage of the Nel Nome del Rock festival at the Giardini del Principe in Palestrina , Italy , outside of Rome . He was soon pronounced dead of a heart attack and Morphine immediately disbanded. The Night was released in 2000. Posthumous Morphine releases followed shortly thereafter, including Bootleg Detroit , an "official live bootleg", and The Best of Morphine: 1992–1995 , both on Rykodisc.
As a result of his strong student record, Rae was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford , where he studied at Balliol College, Oxford under Isaiah Berlin . Praised by The New Yorker as "a fresh and vital young participant in what is a golden age of American string quartets," the Daedalus Quartet has established itself as a leader among the new generation of string ensembles. Since winning the top prize in the Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2001, the Daedalus Quartet has impressed critics and listeners alike with the security, technical finish, interpretive unity, and sheer gusto of its performances. The New York Times has praised the Daedalus Quartet's "insightful and vibrant" Haydn, the "impressive intensity" of their Beethoven, their "luminous" Berg, and the "riveting focus" of their Dutilleux. The Washington Post in turn has acclaimed their performance of Mendelssohn for its "rockets of blistering virtuosity," while the Houston Chronicle has described the "silvery beauty" of their Schubert and the "magic that hushed the audience" when they played Ravel, the Boston Globe the "finesse and fury" of their Shostakovich, the Toronto Globe and Mail the "thrilling revelation" of their Hindemith, and the Cincinnati Enquirer the "tremendous emotional power" of their Brahms.
A musician through and through, Barenboim sat down at the keyboard to deliver the solo part with clarity and poise in the best Mozart style — of the old school, anyway. As on his classic English Chamber Orchestra recording, he played the Wanda Landowska cadenza, with its allusions to operatic Mozart. The opening statement of the slow movement tinkled delicately like a musical box, and Barenboim and the orchestra drew everything together in a finale that stressed the work's thematic unity.
Perhaps the most striking facet about Jew-hatred is its irrationality. The are as many reasons for hating Jews as there are people. Everything that upsets, hurts, or displeases people they often attribute to the Jews. Jews have been blamed for manipulating the media to their needs, usury, blood libels of various forms, well poisoning, dominating slave trade, disloyalty to their host countries, organ harvesting and AIDS spreading.
